So, I often talk about regrets. I have an issue with them. I don’t think it is FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) related, I just want to know I have done the utmost to live a full and happy life having made decisions that are true to me. So… Ask anyone if they ever regretted having newborn photos of their children done. Genuinely, I would quit Photography right now if there was anyone who said they did (ok, I probably wouldn’t quit, but you get my drift…). I can’t imagine any parent saying ‘oh, I wish I didn’t have that picture of Junior’s toes with all those creases when he was born’ or ‘jeez that picture of Button’s curly blonde hair which she doesn’t have any more is a terrible memory to have.’
Newborn Photography is absolutely, 100 percent, without a doubt worth it. The serenity and innocence of a newborn is so short-lived… Their wrinkles, facial expressions, flexibility and all those other amazing qualities last but weeks (probably more like days) after birth and disappear so quickly that you almost forget they were even there thanks to the haze of parenthood. You forget how baby’s head fit neatly into the palm of your hand and their feet were the size of your little fingers - all these memories are worth capturing and made timeless.
The haze of having a newborn is real. The overwhelming realisation of parenthood is real. The scariness of responsibility is real. More importantly the profound sense of love and protection is real and deserves to be captured so that when that tiny bundle in the palm of your hand grows up to be an adult in the scary big world, they will always know how much they are loved and that you are there for them.
Capturing your newborn in the comfort of your own home means all you will need to do is focus on being you and your little (or big!) family. I will capture all the things around you that you don’t see and all the love and connection you have with your new addition. There are no props and I won’t make your little one wear a bonnet or create a composite of them sleeping underneath a waterfall in the Brazilian Forest… Just the baby and you, in the comfort of your own home, lifestyle, simple. There will be no packing of bags, hauling everyone into the car, directions, hoping you’ve remembered everything for a shoot and the rest! You can remain relaxed in your own home, put the kettle on and take a break as and when the little one needs it without any stress. There is no need to worry about the dog/ cat or older sibling running around either - leave that to me and usually having them around makes the best shots!
My sessions are either Fresh 48 (sessions captured within 48 hours of birth) or Newborn (sessions captured ideally within the first 3 weeks of birth). Drop me a message now to let me know your due date so we can schedule in a tentative session so it doesn’t get missed in the haze of parenthood!
I look forward to hearing from you and capturing those important few moments of your new life-changing journey - I can’t wait to be a part of it! Info@shabanaphotography.com
